I am so thankful for seasons and I love fall mostly because of the cooler weather. If you live in Texas, the scorching August temps leave you craving crisp, cooler days.
Last year for Thanksgiving we were so blessed to have Brion’s mom, Marlene, visiting us from Maine, along with our family from Texas, which also included Brion’s niece and her sweet family who recently moved to Houston. The weather was amazing and we stretched out several tables under the pecan trees in our backyard.
When we come together and celebrate occasions, we set a table where we can sit and enjoy each other’s company and some great meals. We come to the table to share laughs, talk about our day, to share our dreams and thoughts, cry over hurts and disappointments……. Are you setting a table and meeting with Jesus daily? I have learned through many hardships that when I do things on my own they never end up the same as if I invite Jesus to lead me through every situation and lean on Him and trust His way. Prepare a place, a table, for Jesus to meet with you and give your thoughts, plans, desires, burdens, hurts, all to Him. Search for Him and know that He will bring peace, strength, answers, and healing in His timing and His way that will bless you.
What I love about coming to the table with Jesus is I know He loves me no matter how I come…..broken, hurt, lost, with sin…. Read Luke 5:29-32 “And Levi gave a big reception for Him in his house; and there was a great crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them. The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling at His disciples, saying ‘Why do you eat and drink with the tax collector and sinners?’ And Jesus answered and said to them, ‘It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
As you prepare your table daily and on special occasions for family and friends remember to also invite Jesus to come to the table.
Enjoy the rest of the week and looking forward to a great weekend!
