Unspeakable Joy Devotional

“God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His good purpose”.  Romans 8:28

I love to bake.  I read about an analogy with a cake and wanted to share it.  We don’t consider eating ingredients of a cake separately-a spoonful of flour, a raw egg, or oil.  It doesn’t taste very good by themselves.  Our lives are like a cake.  Separately there are bitter and hurtful times, some raw, dry and also bland times.  But there are also good times!  Like birthday celebrations, a vacation, a good meal, etc.  Though cake ingredients by themselves don’t taste very well, everything mixed together make a delicious cake!  God is able to blend the good and bad experiences in our lives together for our good.  All together they create a life that is meaningful, useful and tasty!

God used Esther to save His people.  A cruel man named Haman had convinced King Xerxes to command the killing of all the Jews in his kingdom.  Queen Esther was challenged by her cousin, Mordecai, to go before the King and make an appeal for the lives of the Jews.  She knew that going before the king without being invited could result in her own death.  Esther 7:3-4a Then Queen Esther answered “If I have found favor with you, O King, and if it pleases your majesty, grand me my life-this is my petition.  And spare my people-this is my request”.

Not all things are good, but in God’s hands they can be mixed and blended along with the good into a beautiful creation.  It’s during the bad times that we see how big our God is.  He loves each of us and He is in control; we can trust Him!

“For with God nothing shall be impossible!”  Luke 1:37

Journal your Praises, Thankfulness and Prayers to God and watch how He continues to work in your life-each day, week, month and year!
