The forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. The fruit became a symbol for knowledge, immortality, temptation, the fall of man and sin.
If you have ever doubted or not trusted God, don’t worry you are not alone. Genesis 3:6 “The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it”.
I am a planner and I like knowing. I want everything written down in an orderly fashion. And I like lists and being able to check each thing off one by one. Planning makes me feel in control, and I like being in control. When we face unexpected circumstances, we feel our self-sufficiency slip away. That’s when fear sets in. Eve gave in to the temptation to know more. Just like Eve, I want the wisdom to know more, to be able to figure out things on my own and answer all the what-if questions. But focusing on the unknown gives fear an edge. God wants us to release our need to know and trust Him with the plan.
Ask God to remove pride and independence from your heart. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths”. Keep this verse in your heart, soul and mind so that you can live by it each and every day.
Faith is trusting God even when you don’t understand His plan.
