The Lord’s Prayer. Matthew 6:9-13 Jesus said “This, then is how you should pray: ‘Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil’”.
The Lord’s Prayer encourages us to cling to God’s will, to seek forgiveness, to seek God’s help in avoiding temptation and to ask for protection against Satan.
There are 7 key things to note about the Lord’s Prayer:
*Direct your prayers to God the Father
*Remember that God’s Kingdom will eventually be coming down to this earth
*Remember to stay in the perfect will of God for your life
*Ask God to keep you supplied with the daily bread you will need in this life
*Forgive all those who will trespass against you
*Ask God to help keep you out of temptation and deliver you from evil if you do fall into it
*Remember that God’s Kingdom, Power, and Glory will be the only One that will last forever
Jesus gave the Lord’s Prayer as a model of how to pray. The disciples wanted to know how God wanted them to pray, so Jesus gave them an example.
The Lord’s Prayer reminds us that God longs His people to communicate with Him, not just in church on Sunday, but wherever we are and whatever our need.
Journal, write down, each day your Praises, Thankfulness and Prayers to God and watch how God works in your life!
