Unspeakable Joy Devotional

How to put on the Armor of God. Ephesians 6:17 “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

The sword of the Spirit is the only weapon of offense of the armor, but the Word/Bible is also a tool for defense. The enemy uses strongholds and thoughts to use against us. With the sword of the Spirit, God’s word, we are equipped to deal with them all. We need to trust in the truth of God’s word and have confidence in it. Get a hunger and desire for it.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all saints”. Ephesians 6:18

Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers and for believers everywhere.

God did not leave us defenseless against attacks of discouragement and doubt. He has provided spiritual armor for this spiritual battle. The Lord has equipped us with the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God and to keep us in an attitude of prayer.

A Prayer for today: Dear God, today we put on your full armor. Forgive us God for the times we have been unprepared, too busy to care, or trying to fight and wrestle in our own strength. Thank you that we never fight alone, for You are constantly at work on our behalf. You are always shielding us, protecting, strengthening, exposing deeds of darkness, bringing to light what needs to be known, covering us from the cruel attacks we face even when we’re unaware. Thank you that we are forgiven, set free and saved by the grace in Christ Jesus through faith. Amen.
