It is good to give the Lord praise! Psalm 92:1-5 “It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. For you make me glad by your deeds, O Lord; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. How great are your works, O Lord, how profound your thoughts!”

This Psalm is an invitation to begin and end each day by giving thanks to God for his love and faithfulness. But what if you don’t look forward to a new day? It’s easy to be thankful when everything is going our way. How do you give thanks when life is nothing but a disappointment?

I recently read a post by a friend that read “People ask me all the time why I’m so happy, My relationship with God 1st but I personally find that this statement is so true and makes a huge impact in my life.” It made my day to read that.  I look for peace and unspeakable joy through God’s word and have faith that He is in control and put Him first in my life, starting each day in His word. We sometimes find ourselves ill, bitter and asking ‘Why me?’ God’s grace makes it possible for us to thank him every day for his faithfulness.

If it seems impossible to thank God, ask Him for grace to learn to say thank-you in spite of your difficult circumstances. In Romans 8:39 the apostle Paul tells us why: nothing can “separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus the Lord.” That, says Paul, is reason enough to give thanks.

Lord, give us the grace to praise You in spite of what might happen to us. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen

“If you want victory in your life, all you have to do is adopt a lifestyle of thanksgiving.” Joyce Meyer
