Jesus comforts His disciples in John 14:1-3 KJV He says “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” This was an assurance from Christ to His disciples that they would have a place with Him, that He would not abandon them.
His “Father’s House” is meant heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:1 “Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.” And mansions meaning dwelling place; mansions of love, peace, joy, and rest. Christ is saying that He is preparing a place for us in heaven where we will dwell with God in close communion with Him and that there is room in heaven for all whom God calls to salvation.
We hear these verses a lot in funerals that we attend. It reminds us of the same promise He told His disciples. In John 11:25-26 Jesus said “I am the resurrection, and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
The Bible promises that someday every believer will share in heaven’s glory, and that heaven’s mansions also translated to rooms or dwelling places are set apart for God’s people. This great truth should encourage us every day. If you know Christ, someday you will enter your heavenly home. All the cares and sorrows of this life will be over, and you will be safely in God’s presence forever! This life is temporary; heaven will be forever. This life is imperfect; heaven will be perfect. This life is full of heartache and pain; in heaven we will know only peace and joy.
Do you know you will go there when you die? You can, by committing your life to Jesus and trusting Him alone for your salvation. Jesus said, “I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved.” John 10:9. Open your heart to Him today. Billy Graham
