Angels. This picture depicts a tree that is called the Angel Oak Tree that is located in South Carolina at Johns Island. The description reads “Its massive, draping limbs and wide spreading canopy present the aura of an angel”. This tree felt angelic and there was a peaceful sense about being in its presence. And it got me to thinking about angels that are among us.

Angels are an integral part of God’s plan. Hebrews 13:2 “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” This verse alludes to the possibility of angels walking among us today.

Some scriptures about angels from the Bible: Genesis 16:9 “Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.” – angels can instruct people. Daniel 6:22 “My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king.” – angels can help people. Luke 1:35 “The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”-angels can deliver messages to people. Exodus 23:20 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.”-angels can help carry out God’s plan.

I believe that there are angels among us if God so chooses to use them in His plan for us. And if they do, it is because they are serving a God-ordained purpose. Angels are not to be worshipped. Colossians 2:18 “Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions.”

Regardless if we actually experience angelic encounters, the most important thing is that we experience salvation through Jesus Christ. He is beyond all angels and all humans, and He alone is worthy of worship.

“You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.”

Nehemiah 9:6
