You are not an empty house. You are the house of God. Be faithful and be Strong! I saw this post recently on Rodeo For A Reason’s site. I had the privilege at being at a barrel race in the past and they gave the message on a Sunday while at a race. Just another example of God’s people delivering His message to people everywhere.
When you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, remember Who is about You to lift the weight off! James 4:7-8 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
The devil wouldn’t be attacking you so hard if there wasn’t something valuable inside of you. Thieves don’t break into empty houses.
Luke 12:7 “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.”
Jesus uses a word picture about sparrows. Sparrows were often sold in the marketplace, and you could buy five for just two pennies. People may have thought sparrows weren’t worth much, but Jesus says, “Not one of them are forgotten by God.” Then, to highlight how much more valuable his listeners are to the Lord, Jesus says that God numbered even the many hairs on their heads. “Don’t be afraid,” he says, “you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Many of Jesus’ listeners were poor and worn down; they often felt forgotten and worthless. The powerful, well connected and religious elites virtually ignored them. But in God’s eyes, each person is so valuable that he sent his Son to save them.
We are valuable, and God does not forget us.
Redeemer God, help me to realize today how much I am worth to you. Amen.
