Rejoice and Be Glad In it! Psalm 118:24 “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
If you woke up today, then for you, this is the day that the Lord has made and you and I should “rejoice and be glad in it” because God’s given us another day to live for Him and tell about all of the marvelous blessings He has given us. He wants to use us every day as a part of the Body of Christ, the church, to do what Jesus would have us do.
Matthew 5:12 “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” Our life is not primarily about earth and the temporary, but about heaven and the eternal, which is a phrase that reoccurs in the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 6:19-20 “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.” Jesus reminds us to live on earth with heaven in mind. Our faithfulness here on earth in the midst of hardships and persecution will be rewarded in heaven.
Let’s get our eyes off ourselves, off of our problems, off of the world around us. Let’s fix our eyes on Him, the Redeemer of our souls. Those who look up in humility, also look up in joy! Together, let’s fix our eyes on Him and be glad!
